RE: CANE RIVER BANK STABILIZATION PROJECT
The St. Augustine Catholic Church, Natchitoches Parish, our legislative delegation, local landowners, and the Cane River Waterway Commission have worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District 4155 Clay Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi 39183-3435 on a project to stabilize the riverbank by Hwy 484. The project location is from the St. Augustine Catholic Church, North towards the Melrose Bridge. The current project cost is estimated at $2,138,000.00. The Cane River Waterway commission has accepted the role of being the non-federal sponsor of the project. This means that the Cane River Waterway Commission will contribute the non-federal cash contribution, which is 5% of the budget and has further agreed to meet the cash and meet the cash and in kind contributions. The in kind contribution include acquire of lands, easement, rights of ways and assisting with the relocation of utilities.
To ensure the longevity of the project and future of Hwy 484 the current plans call for the use of stone along the bank in order to stabilize and protect the bank.
The project has now reached a point in the preliminary design process where support letters from all entities are needed. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in the form of a letter of support. We would further request that you copy the Cane River Waterway Commission with your letter at 244 Cedar Bend Natchez, Louisiana 71456, for record keeping purposes. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you, in advance, for your assistance
